High atop Russian Hill in San Francisco we turned three small apartment units into one large penthouse home with 180-degree views of the bay from the Pacific Ocean, Golden Gate Bridge and Marin, to downtown San Francisco and the Bay Bridge.

Clean straight lines along with flush baseboard and door casing details created a simple yet sophisticated design for this modern home.

Complete built-in beds with headboards and end tables, full walk-in closets in each room, along with large bathroom vanities and medicine cabinets allowed the home furnishing to be as simple as possible in keeping with the minimalist look.

The bathrooms and kitchen showcase large book matched slabs of Calacatta black and white, Thassos, and Caesarstone quartz, and large format tiles and heated floors.

Recessed LED cove lighting showcases the casework throughout the house and gives the feel of warmth. The lighting glows from recessed coves in the ceiling and from under cabinets lighting the room evenly without any spotlight feel that comes from traditional recessed lights.

Hidden speakers tapped into the ceiling provide surround sound throughout the entire house. Recessed shades retract above the ceiling to take advantage of the breathtaking views.

The hydronic heating and cooling system provided the opportunity to do both heating and cooling while eliminating the use of ducting helping to maximize the height of the ceilings that was otherwise dictated by the building’s concrete structure above and below.

Architectural bronze metal details tie the house together and come to a crescendo in the whiskey room with a 200 shelf bronze display room including Calacatta stone on the ceiling and backlight lighting perfect for any collector.
